What is Zina in islam?
The literal meaning of the word Zina (الزنا) – to ascend, to ascend, to narrow, to have intercourse, etc.
The term adultery – refers to intercourse with a woman who is not his wife (or plaintiff), whether in font or back.
Or she was having sex with a man who is not her husband or owner, whether he is married or unmarried.
Types of Zina in islam
There are two main types of infidelity.
- Real Zina
- Metaphorical Zina
Actual adultery refers to illicit intercourse. And there are many types of metaphorical cheating. I am discussing it in detail below.
Metaphor fornication and it’s types
Zina of the eyes
Zina of the eyes: Adultery of the eyes is looking at forbidden things. A man looks at an after-woman, or a woman looks at a man.
Zina of the ear: Listening to haram messages is adultery in the ear, which leads him to fulfil sexual desires and sin illegally.
Oral adultery: Speaking of obscene and sexually forbidden words is oral adultery. Which calls people to engage in haram sex.
Hand adultery: Touching a woman or moving or touching sensitive parts of her body with the hand is adultery of the hand.
Foot Zina: Walking for any haraam purpose is Zina of the feet. Such as walking to the park to meet a girlfriend.
Zina of the mind
Zina of the mind – thinking of actual adultery by the nature of making a reflection of the genitals of a woman or man in the heart is adultery of the heart.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
Translation: ‘Allah Ta’ala has written the share of Zina for the children of Adam. He will get it because the fornication of the eyes is to look.
The adultery of the tongue is to speak. Affair of the heart is to nurture desire. Then the genitals attest or deny it.
Electric Zina
Currently, another new type of adultery has been revealed, which is being called electric fornication.
This includes people who engage in adultery in all the ways that they use their electric devices.
I was watching pornographic videos on the phone with a girl or a boy talking haraam messages. Play games. Listening to pornographic songs or stories is all-electric adultery.
The provision of Zina in Islam
All kinds of adultery are forbidden. Poets are sins, whether it is big Zina or physical intercourse, or metaphorical Zina.
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
Translation: Don’t even go near Zina. Indeed, it is a carrier of immorality and evil. (Surat al-Isra – 32)
A Companion asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which sin is the greatest?
Then he said –
To associate anyone with Allah while He has created you. Then the disciple asked again which sin is the greatest?
He said – you killed your father for fear that he would have to eat with you.
Then the Companion asked again, then what is the greatest sin? He said – You commit adultery with your neighbour’s wife. (Sahih Bukhari – 4207)
But on the level of sin, adultery is above all. His punishment is also severe, and metaphorical cheating is forbidden. But his sentence is less than the punishment of great adultery.
Punishment of Zina
If the adulterer is married, they must stone him to death.
And if they are unmarried, they will have to be whipped a hundred times. If one is married and the other is unmarried, the married will be stoned, and the available will be flogged.
In the Holy Quran, Allah Ta’ala says –
Give a hundred lashes to both men and women who commit adultery. (Surah Noor)
The metaphor is the peace of fornication.
Actual adultery is only that which is committed by the genitals. But in the metaphorical sense, the genitals do not need to be convicted of adultery. I have discussed in detail above.
So the punishment of metaphor or minor adultery is not like the punishment of actual cheating. The stone will not die for this type of adultery.
The judge will punish at his discretion, whether it’s whipping or beating shoes or something else.
Imam Ibn Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: There can be three types of wickedness.
The first type is – which includes Had (peace prescribed by Sharia). However, there is no expiation, such as theft, adultery, slander, etc.
The second type is – there is expiation, but there is no limit. Such as having intercourse during Ihram or fasting etc.
The third type – in which there is no expiration or limit. Such as spending time alone or kissing a woman, etc.
According to the majority of imams, the ruler or judge will give appropriate punishment for such sins. In no way can these sins be left unpunished.
Who will punish Zina?
Only the ruler or judge of the Islamic State has the power to punish adultery. He will punish after adultery is proved based on specific rules.
Some certain conditions and rules have to be observed to prove actual adultery. The adulterer must consciously acknowledge the irrigation. Or have four eyewitnesses.
Each of these four witnesses has to say the same thing, “I have seen with my own eyes that the sex of such and such a person has entered the sex of such and such a woman.”
If one does a little bit of talking, they will not prove adultery.
At the same time, the person who commits adultery must be fully aware that it is haram when he commits adultery.
If the adulterer thinks he is his wife and has sex with another woman, he cannot be given the above punishment.
However, these are not required to prove minor adultery. The judge can apply the law only if it is demonstrated in any other way.
Losses of adultery
If he commits adultery, the Islamic court will punish him. But in practice, most of the Muslim countries in the world do not have Sharia law.
As a result, it is not possible to punish adultery. But even if not punished, an adulterer is being harmed in various ways. Whose is ruining this world and the hereafter.
- Zina is an obstacle to accepting prayers.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
The gates of heaven are opened at midnight. Then a caller says, “Are you a praying person?” Whose prayers will be accepted?
Are you in any demand? Whose wishes will be fulfilled? Are you in any danger? Whose danger will be removed?
The prayer of a Muslim who prays at that time will be accepted except for the one who commits adultery.
- Fornication opens the door to other sins.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever commits Zina or drinks alcohol, Allah will take away his faith. The way people undress with their heads.
- Zina is the cause of heavenly wrath and torment.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
My ummah will not be deprived of welfare unless illegitimate children are abundant among them.
So when an illegitimate child is found among them, it is feared that Allah will send down on them a great torment.
- Zina will reduce the good deeds on the Day of Resurrection.
Ways to stay free from adultery.
To be free from real Zina, one has to avoid small Zina or every object that calls for the original Zina.
Such as restraining vision from women. Unnecessarily refrain from talking to Gair Mahram, boy or girl.
Neighbours think that Aunty should not meet any married or unmarried boy or girl in a secluded environment.
Restrain yourself from watching bad video dramas or films. Stay away from reading pornographic storey novels.
In a word, it is possible to survive adultery only if all the activities, big and small, are forbidden by Islam.
Otherwise, there is a risk of getting involved in adultery because small Zina clears the way for real Zina.
How to repent from Zina?
Those who are committing minor sins will always seek forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala.
He will pray that Allah will grant him the Tawfiq to abstain from all kinds of sins. In sha Allah, you can be free from Zina.
And the way to repent from real Zina is first to give up Zina completely because the precondition for repenting from any sin is to give up that cow.
Then be determined never to indulge in such sins again. Then he will raise his hand to Allah, confess his sins and transgressions and ask for forgiveness.
Ask for forgiveness in any language. There is no separate sentence for this.
However, the best time to repent is after performing the obligatory prayers or at midnight by performing two to four Rakat of Tahajjud prayers.
And repentance is not something that can forgive only once. Instead, he will have to repent for the rest of his life.
Because I have no way of knowing when Allah Ta’ala will listen to anyone’s call or whether my repentance has been accepted or not.
