what is haram for a woman in Islam?
What is haram for a woman in Islam? This answer demands extensive discussion. It is impossible to answer him in one word.
It is also a difficult task to make a list by calculating the quality. Because Islam is a perfect way of life.
There are rules and regulations of Islam in every aspect of human life. Therefore, the rules of Islam exist in all the work that a woman does every day.
It is difficult to calculate how many types and ways hundreds of Muslim women are working every day.
And in every work, there is a provision of halal and haram. So there are many harams for a woman.
In the next discussion, we are discussing some notable and special haram topics.
Is it haram for a girl to move out?
Women often need to go out of their homes to the shops or tailors.
So the question is – is it haram for women to talk to men and go out of the house?
Is it haram for a woman to go out?
Instructing every Muslim woman to stay in her abode, Allah Ta’ala said,
‘Stay in your own homes.’ (Surat al-Ahzab, 33)
Thus the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared that women should pray in their homes than go to the mosque and pray.
‘Their own house is better for them.’ (Abu Dawood, 480)
This proves that it is the best and safest place for women to stay at home.
So they will refrain from going out unnecessarily. This is the guidance and the best way for them.
But if the need arises, they can go out and do the necessary work.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
إنه قد أذن لكن أن تخرجن لحاجتكن
‘You are allowed to go out if necessary.’ (Sahih Bukhari, 4517)
And there are many narrations that during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and in the golden age of Islam, women used to go to the bazaar and buy what they needed.
This proves that women can go out and do their necessary work if necessary. However, there are some conditions for it.
The conditions that women have to abide by when they go out
One: You must go out wearing Shariah hijab. Allah Ta’ala has instructed women to wear hijab,
‘O Prophet, tell the believing women to restrain their gaze and guard their private parts.
And do not reveal their hidden beauty except for the manifest beauty of the body. ‘(Surah Noor, 30)
Two: Can’t get out using perfume. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
المرأة إذا استعطرت فمرت بالمجلس فهي كذا وكذا يعني زانية
‘The woman who uses perfume to move people in society is very similar. That is like adultery. (Tirmidhi, 26)
Three: Can’t walk showing obscene body language. Allah Ta’ala forbids it and says –
‘Do not display the beauty of the body like your dark age (girls).’ (Surah Ahzab, 33).
Four: She has to go out with the permission and knowledge of her guardian i.e. father or husband. Because Allah Ta’ala has entrusted the responsibility of taking care of women to men.
‘Men are the guardians of women.’ (Surah Nisa, 34)
Is it haram to talk to the opposite gender?
Allowing the Companions to speak to the wives of the Prophet, Allah Ta’ala said in the Holy Qur’an,
“If you ask them (the wives of the Prophet) for anything, ask them from behind the curtain.” (Surat al-Ahzab, 53)
Thus there are many examples of women talking to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his Companions.
As in a hadith narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) addressed the women in the Eid sermon and said,
Translation: You give more charity. Because I have seen more fuel for Hell than any of you.
Then a woman stood in the middle of the women. Whose cheek colour was variegated.
He said, “What is it for, O Messenger of Allah?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Complain a lot and disobey your husband. (Sahih Muslim – 2065)
All these documents prove that men and women can talk to each other in need. Or women’s voices are not included on the screen.
But there are some conditions for the talk between them to be permissible. If it is violated, it will no longer be permissible. Rather, it will become an act of haram and sin.
Haram for woman and Conditions to be permissible
One: Women will keep their voices normal when talking to men and will not be able to make them soft and sweet.
Allah Ta’ala forbids it and says –
You (when talking to other men) do not soften the voice. Because as a result, he who has a disorder in his heart will be tempted. Rather, you speak naturally. (Surat al-Ahzab, 32)
Two: A woman and a man cannot talk alone or in a secluded place. You have to speak in public or in front of a mahram man or woman.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
لا يخلون رجل بامرأة إلا مع ذي محرم
Men and women cannot meet alone. However, if the woman is with a mahram, it is another matter. (Sahih Bukhari – 4935)
Three: Just talk as much as you need to. Unnecessary and Sharia prohibitions cannot speak.
