Can I pray fajr after sunrise? An authentic answer

Prayer is an essential part of Muslim life. After believing in Allah and His Messenger, prayer is the strongest pillar of Islam. So we pray five times a day. But many wake up late for Fajr prayer. As a result, the question comes to us – Can I pray Fajr after sunrise?

The exact time of Fajr prayers is from when the yellow line (second Fajr) appears in the sky to sunrise. Therefore, performing Fajr prayers will not be valid by delaying from this specific time because it is a sin for poets to do so purposefully.

Allah Ta’ala has fixed a time for each prayer. He said in the Holy Quran,

Translation: Prayers have been obligatory for believers to perform at the appointed time. (Surah Nisa – 103)

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) served the Fajr prayer before sunrise from his migration to Medina until his death.

After his death, Sahaba Karam, Tabiin Tabi Tabiin, and Salaf Salihin have also been performing Fajr prayers before sunrise.

For this reason, every believer must perform the Fajr prayers before sunrise. If anyone deliberately delays, he will be guilty.

Can I pray Fajr after sunrise?

Yes, I can pray Fajr after sunrise. Suppose I wake up late. Then, I woke up after sunrise and could pray for Fajr.

In the same way, if he forgets about the prayers and then recites that he did not perform the prayers after sunrise, then there is time for him to perform the prayers.

Sleep is compared to death because such a person will be considered incompetent. Moreover, he has no authority here.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

The person who forgets about the prayers or stays asleep should perform the prayers out of remembrance. He does not have to pay any expiation for this. (Sahih Bukhari)

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated,

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to lie on his right side after prayers two Rakat (Sunnat) of Fajr. (Sahih Bukhari)

On this basis, if a person wakes up after sunrise, he will first perform two Rakat of Fajr Sunnat. Then, the two Rakat will be prayer Fajr Salah, the Sunnah.

According to a narration, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his Companions all fell asleep on the way back from a journey.

No one could wake up at dawn. As a result, they wake up when the sunlight is felt on them after sunrise.

Then, he first performed two Rakat of Fajr sunnah. Then, the two Rakat are Fajr Faraj with the congregation.

In the book Aunul Mabud, the author says that this hadith proves the legitimacy of performing the Qadha of the two Rak’at sunnah prayers of Fajr.

Because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) first ordered the call to prayer. After Azan, Sunnat performed two Rak’ats, ordered Iqamah, and established Jamaat.

How long after sunrise can I pray Fajr?

The virtue of performing Fajr prayer on time

Fajr prayer is better than everything in the world: Rasulullah (SAW) said, “Two rakat Fajr prayer is better than the world and everything in it.” (Muslim, Hadith: 1573)

Encounter of Angels: Angels take turns at dawn. And at this time, the angels present it to Allah whatever the servant does. In a hadith, the Messenger of God (PBUH) explained the matter beautifully and said, ‘The angels come among you by turns; Some during the day, some at night. Both groups come together for Asr and Fajr prayers.

Then the party among you who spend the night rises. Then their Lord asked them, in what condition will I leave my servants?

But he is most aware of them. They replied, ” We left them in prayer, and when we went to them, they were still praying. (Bukhari, Hadith: 555)
