Is yoga halal in Islam?

Is Yoga halal or haram in Islam? We are writing today’s article to answer this question. A religious brother of ours asked this question.

In this article, we will discuss – Yoga in Quran and Hadith. Yoga is the opinion of Islamic scholars and Fatwas of various Islamic research centres.

All in all, we hope that this article will be resourceful. You will get a complete idea about Yoga in Islam by reading the full article.

Is Yoga halal in Islam?

Yes, Yoga is halal in Islam. But it’s one opinion of three current Islamic scholars about Yoga.

According to the first opinion, Yoga is haram and all its forms. They say Yoga comes from the ancient culture of Hindu and Buddhist scholars.

No Muslim can do the work of another religion, and acts of other faiths are forbidden in Islam. According to the second opinion, Yoga is entirely halal.

They say all forms and forms of Yoga are halal, and Yoga is fundamentally a physical exercise.

Here it will be halal as long as some factor – which Islam does not support – is added and cannot be called haram.

Another third view is that certain types of Yoga are halal, and some particular types are forbidden. They say Yoga comes from other religions but has physical benefits for humans.

However, your specific systems are faburden in Islam, and he can do the systems Islam has not prohibited.

Yoga in Qur’an

Yoga in Qur’an is not mentioned in any verse in the Holy Qur’an. So the Quran does not answer whether Yoga is halal or haram.

The reason is that the Holy Qur’an has come to teach people to worship, relate people to Allah, and present social and state legislation principles from the individual to the worldly life.

There are details in the Quran about how to give people a pure life from sin; hence, Yoga is not discussed in the Quran.

Because Yoga is only considered a physical exercise, what has not been discussed in the Holy Quran is that the solution is zero.

The solution of that is presented to the people by Islamic scholars through their enlightened research.

Therefore, although there is no discussion about Yoga in the Quran, Islamic scholars have given us a clear idea about it in their various talks and fatwas.

Is Yoga halal in Hadith?

The word Yoga does not appear directly in the Hadith. Therefore, it is impossible for anyone who says Yoga is halal or it is haram to give a direct reference from the Hadith.

However, both sides bolster their claims based on various hadiths. Those who consider Yoga as fundamentally haram say,

In a hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever resembles another community, he will become one of them.” Yoga is an ancient culture of Hindus and Buddhists.

So if Muslims do Yoga, they will also become like Hindus and friends, which Islam prohibits. Those who said that it is halal if only haram is adjusted with Yoga.

They adduce a hadith supporting their view: Wisdom is the lost wealth of the believer, to be retrieved wherever it can be found.

As it keeps the body fit through Yoga. Through this, people can stay healthy, which has human health benefits. So it can be accepted.

Can Muslim girls do Yoga?

We have already answered can Muslim girls do Yoga? There are three ways we have mentioned.

According to two opinions, Yoga is halal. According to those who say it is halal, Muslim girls can do Yoga as there are physical benefits.

Mufti Tariq Masood Sahib opined that Muslim women could do Yoga. He said Muslim women do not give importance to their health.

But one way a wife can attract her husband and keep him mentally happy is to have a lean body. If Muslim girls are health conscious, their families will transform into happy families.

However, Muslim girls must pay attention to the hijab while doing Yoga. Don’t wear tight clothing that exposes your body parts. But Muslim girls wearing hijabs can do Yoga.

They can maintain their health. It is a vital subject in life and keeps your ping husband attracted to you.

Fatwa on Yoga – it’s Halal or no?

This time we are discussing various Darul Iftar fatwas about Yoga. Islamic Research Centers have presented the results of their enlightening research before the nation.

Among them are – Dr Zakir Naik, Mufti Manik Sahib, the IslamQA website, etc.

What they have to say about Yoga will be presented here slowly. Already we have written the speech of the famous Mufti Tariq Masood Sahib of Pakistan.

He opined that Muslims could do Yoga, and even Muslim girls could do Yoga. He says it is a means of keeping health and fitness, and Muslims can do it.

However, it cannot be done for the purposes that Hindus do, such as their worship, words in praise of deities, or words that do not support Islamic Shari’a.

Dr Zakir Naik’s Fatwa on Yoga

Dr Zakir Naik was asked by a person about Yoga, whether it is halal or haram. Does it have anything to do with Shirk?

In response, he published a video on YouTube that narrated a long history of Yoga after telling the past, saying that it has health benefits.

If, while doing Yoga, one does not engage in any words or actions Islam disapproves of, then it is permissible. Anyone can do it.

But if it is accompanied by any action that is contrary to Islam. Then it cannot be done. You can watch the video below to learn his detailed discussion.

Yoga in Islam IslmaQa

While discussing the fatwa about Yoga on the IslamQA website, they put forward three opinions. According to a girl, Yoga is haram.

And According to another opinion, Yoga is halal. According to other views, Yoga has certain conditions, which can be halal-based and forbidden.

However, they have given their opinion that Yoga should be considered haram.
They found Yoga to be decisive in its similarities with other religions. You can read their fatwa from this link.

Summarization

The article discusses Yoga in Islam or Is Yoga Halal in Islam? I tried to discuss this answer.

I presented the views of various Islamic scholars and showed how it was discussed within the Muslim community.

We think those who say Yoga is halal conditionally are justified. It has physical benefits. So a Muslim can do Yoga if he wants to do it.

However, while practising Yoga, one cannot engage in any activity Islam does not support. If you have any other questions, please comment.
