Is Birth control haram in Islam? some methods, some types

Birth control is sometimes taken for a short period. Later, if desired, they can return to the normal process of childbirth.

It is taken when a child is young due to reluctance to have another child or the physical weakness of the mother.

Few unique methods of temporary birth control in Islam

Birth control in Islam
  • Azal
  • Condoms
  • Pill
  • Injection
  • Implant

Again, many people adopt permanent birth control methods—usually those who want more children after having one or more children or do not accept them.

The ligation method for permanent birth control is quite well known, so women’s ovaries are cut and tied through surgery.

Birth control in Islam and its provisions without any reason

Shaykh bin Baz and Shaykh Ibn’ Uthaymeen think it is halal to adopt temporary birth control.

They have put forward a document supporting this opinion by the Azal approved in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Is birth control in hadith in Islam

Jabir – Radiyallahu Anhu – Narrated

In the time of ‘Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) – We used to do Azal. Then the news reached him. But he allowed us. ‘(Sahih Muslim – 3634)

Narrated by Abu Saeed Khudri – Radiyallahu Anhu –

‘A man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have a slave. I deal with him. I don’t like her getting pregnant. But I also want what men want.

And the Jews say that Azal is a small living burial. So he (the Messenger of Allah – peace be upon him) said: The Jews have lied.

If Allah willed to create him, you would not be able to bring him back. ‘(Abu Dawood – 2173)

The Opinions of Islamic scholars about Birth control in Islam

As Ibn Humam said –

‘According to many Ulama, it is halal to perform Azal. And one of the Companions and others disliked it. But pure words are acceptable.

It is narrated on the authority of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih Hain that when the Qur’an was sent down, we used to perform Azal.

And there are Muslims – in the Prophet’s time (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to do Azal. ‘(Fath al-Qadir – 8/293)

In addition to the two hadiths and cars mentioned, several other hadiths and users are to this effect. By which the Ulama presented the document on the legitimacy of Keram Azal.

They think their temporary birth control methods, such as pill condom implants, are the same as Azal.

In the case of Azal, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,

‘If Allah wills to create him, you will not be able to return it.’

ThatTheld will be born even after Allah has done it. That, and that remains open. In the same way, even after adopting these methods, the course is available for the birth of a child.

Meanwhile, even modern temporary birth control methods cannot fully control the ability to conceive.

The field becomes particularly fetal transmission, as is the case with Azal. However, these modern methods are more potent than Azal.

Moreover, these are considered to be similar to Azal. That is, adopting modern temporary methods of birth control is halal.

Temporary birth control valid for all conditions

The first condition –

Those procedures should be temporary, such as azaleas, condoms, pills, injections, implants, patches, etc.

Because it is haram to take permanent friendship, Azal, with the Prophet’s permission (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), does not stop the birth of a child forever.

ThatHed, “If God wanted to create him, you wouldn’t be able to return it.”

But permanently, the way for sperm to reach the uterus is blocked. As a result, a woman is bound forever.

In this way, the blessing of fertility given by Allah Ta’ala is destroyed forever.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And whoever changes it after the blessings of Allah have come, then Allah is severe in retribution.” (Surat al-Baqara, 211)

The second condition –

No method of birth control can be adopted which is not free from health risks.

Allah says –

‘Don’t kill yourself. Allah is Most Merciful to you. ‘(Surah An-Nisa’ – 29)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

‘It is not in Islam to harm or harm anyone.’ (Muwatta Malik – 2657)

(Many researchers claim that all conventional birth control methods haram, except azaleas, have health risks.)

All the women taking these methods suffer from various diseases, which is visually proven.

The third condition – birth control haram

Husband and wife must be satisfied. Because having children is a primary purpose of marriage. For and for purpose, both husband and wife are equally empowered.

Therefore, birth control haram for one to refrain from having another child without his permission.

Narrated by Umar Ibn Khattar (may Allah be pleased with him) –

‘The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade a free woman to have intercourse with him without her permission.’ (Ibn Majah – 1926)

Commentary by Tabeinul Hakayik –

‘It is not makruh to perform Azal based on the satisfaction of one’s independent wife or the basis of the pleasure of one’s master if the wife is captive. ‘

Fourth condition – birth control haram

No procedure can be adopted which requires disclosure of the genitals in front of the doctor.

Because it is not permissible to reveal one’s private parts in front of a doctor without a final disability, I want to be a female doctor.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

O children of Adam! Let not Satan tempt you in any way, as He drove your parents out of Paradise and stripped them naked to show them their shame. ‘(Surat al-A’raf: 27)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

`Do not look at the private parts of men and women. ‘(Sahih Muslim – 694)

Note – This method will no longer be permissible if any of the above conditions are violated.

Adoption of birth control method in case of any need

It is difficult to conceive due to a physical illness or if the previous child is still relatively young.

Or it is legal to take temporary contraceptive measures if there is a risk of death of the mother or the child.

On the contrary, in some cases, it is obligatory to take birth control measures. For example, if an inexperienced doctor informs you, there is a strong possibility that the mother will die during childbirth if she becomes pregnant.

Or two or three caesareans in a row have made it impossible for the mother to be saved by cesarean section, so it is obligatory to take birth control.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

Don’t kill yourself. Allah is Most Merciful to you. ‘(Surah An-Nisa’ – 29)

In another verse – birth control haram

`And do not push yourselves into destruction with your own hands. ‘(Surat al-Baqara – 145)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

It is not in Islam to harm or harm anyone. ‘(Mu’attam Malik – 2657)

There are several other pieces of evidence to this effect, including the above two verses and the hadith, which prove that every Muslim must refrain from doing things that push him to death.

Therefore, a woman must take birth control if there is a strong possibility of death due to pregnancy.

In this case, adopting a permanent birth control method would be permissible, but it is safer.

Because the possibility of getting pregnant temporarily remains, but if the permanent method is adopted, the minimum chance of pregnancy does not remain.

Taking birth control measures for fear of poverty and sustenance

It will be haram to take birth control haram measures thinking that you will not be able to provide other clothes, shelter, etc., to the child after losing trust in Allah Ta’ala.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

`And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. I provide for them; indeed, killing them is a great sin. ‘(Surah Bani Isra’il – 31)

In another verse –

And thus, their associates have made it proper for many polytheists to kill their children, destroy them, and mislead them about their religion. ‘(Surat al-An’am: 137)

Moreover, such thoughts and deeds bear witness to the imperfection of faith in God Almighty because Allah Ta’ala has taken the responsibility of giving all the necessary things to all human beings from birth to death. Birth control haram

That is, if a person spends his own money and seeks sustenance or the path of life, Allah Almighty will give it to him.

The father’s sustenance is different; the mother’s sustenance is other, allocating the children’s supervision separately.

As Allah Ta’ala says –

The path of life of all those who walk on the earth is the responsibility of Allah. ‘(Surah Hud – 6)

In another verse –

`And how many animals there are that cannot save themselves. GOD provides for them and you. And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. ‘(Surat al-Anbakut: 60)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

`Allah Ta’ala has written the universe’s destiny fifty thousand years before the creation of the heavens and the earth. ‘(6919)

Therefore, it would not be valid to take contraceptive measures from the idea that the father has to hurry to feed them or meet their needs when there are more children.

The last word about – is Birth control haram in Islam?

The number of this ummah should be more significant. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will be proud of that on the Day of Resurrection.

As Makil Ibn Yasar narrates –

A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, ‘I have found a noble and beautiful woman to marry.’

But she will not be able to have children. Should I marry her? He said, ‘No.’ Then he came a second time.

This time too, he forbade her. Then he came a third time and said, ‘You Mayawati, marry a woman who gives birth to more children.

Because I will be proud of other nations over the number of you. ‘(Abu Dawood – 2052)

Therefore, every Muslim should appear on the Day of Resurrection as the father of more children without adopting any method of birth control for any reason.

But even if someone does, it will be valid, subject to the conditions discussed. I cannot rebuke, which is birth control in Islam and its provisions.

Allah Ta’ala knows best.
